My Newborn Photography Covid Precautions and Policies

Can you believe we have been in this pandemic for a year already? I can hardly believe it either, but here we are. Over the course of the last year, I have taken several covid precautions in order to keep myself, my family and my clients safe. I felt like it was a good time to share what my newborn photography covid precautions and policies are here on my blog. This way, new families can see exactly what I’m doing to minimize the risk and reduce the fear of hiring a newborn photographer during the pandemic.

Covid Precautions I Am Taking At Home

The most important covid precaution I am taking is limiting my risk of exposure. This means I am doing simple things like attending church online, avoiding large gatherings and socializing outdoors when possible. My husband is lucky to work from home, and my children are doing school virtually. While I’m out and about, I always wear a mask and stick to the CDC’s guidelines for social distancing as much as possible. One the very rare occasion that I go out to a restaurant for a meal, I only eat at restaurants with outdoor seating.

Covid Precautions During Sessions

In order to absolutely minimize risks during studio sessions, all sessions take place at my in-home studio. I do this because my home is low traffic, and I am able to sanitize every fabric and surface prior to the session. I also only schedule one newborn session per day, in order to allow myself enough time for a thorough cleaning in between families coming in. There is no rushing the cleaning process!

During your session, my assistant and I wear masks the entire time. You are going to see me washing and sanitizing my hands frequently, in order to keep your little one safe.

I actually kind of like wearing masks…they hide the weird faces I’ve discovered I make when I’m shooting!  Lol!

What About Siblings?

There is nothing more sweet than older siblings with their newborn brother or sister. I absolutely understand how important it is for older siblings to be involved in newborn sessions! I am allowing siblings into the studio, however I ask that siblings come at the end of the session. This way they are only present for the time spent doing the family portion of newborn sessions.

Scheduling and Canceling Sessions During the Covid Pandemic

While I am doing everything in my humanly power to reduce my risk, there is always a small chance no matter what anyone does to prevent getting sick. I commit to immediately canceling or rescheduling a session should I, or anyone in my family, display any symptoms or come into contact with someone who’s tested positive. Even though the chances are incredibly small, the risk is not worth the chance of spreading this virus. Your family’s health and safety are too important to me!

What I’ve Been Up To During the Pandemic

I haven’t done a lot of blogging since the pandemic started, but I’ve been busy with lots of precious babies. Being able to snuggle with these little guys has been such a blessing in the middle of a very stressful and anxiety-inducing time in our lives.  Each one reminds me of the promise of a better and brighter tomorrow.

Here’s just a sampling of the newborn squishiness that’s visited the studio since we first learned about COVID-19.
