Meet Chris and Courtney, and their beautiful son Christopher. When this river dock and incredible view is your backyard, you better believe we’re going to schedule your session at sunset and do a huge chunk of your “in home session” outside!
Christopher was another baby born during lock down (like this one) so we didn’t get to do his newborn session until he was 6 weeks old. As I typically like to get babies in the studio during their first 3 weeks after birth, I warned Courtney that we might not get the usual sleepy curly poses. However, Christopher shocked us both and let me do everything we had planned for him.
It’s wild to me that it’s been nearly a year since I photographed this session. Yes, eek – I am that horribly behind on blogging but I am catching up!! Courtney just came into the studio this week to try on dresses in the client closet for Christopher’s upcoming first birthday session. I thought it would be fun to share his Jacksonville outdoor newborn session first, before I photograph and share his next session!
Going through these images, it really hit me that it’s really been a full year since Covid became a household name and changed all of our lives. At the time, I didn’t know if my business would survive. I didn’t know when and if I’d be able to start shooting again. I didn’t know if people would still want to bring their babies out of the house and in to my studio for photos. My husband and I innocently thought our kids would ACTUALLY be going back to school after a slightly extended spring break.
But here we are, a year later. My kids are still home, my husband is working from home, and our world is still off-kilter. As a family, we’ve had our struggles over the past year, had our ups and downs, and fought some mental battles. But, in the grand scheme of things we’ve been relatively unscathed. Our jobs are still intact, the kids are thriving in virtual school, we’ve all stayed healthy. In our seemingly safe bubble it’s sometimes easy to forget all of the suffering that is going on throughout the world.
Anyway, I’m so grateful for clients like Chris and Courtney and amazing little blessings like Christopher. I can’t wait to see them again soon!
