Newborn Photos at Ponte Vedra Beach (And the Studio!)

I have said it before, and I will say it again: one of the best parts of my job is getting to watch families grow! Meet my friends Chris and Brittany, and their two adorable sons, Wyatt and Connor. I first met this incredible family when I photographed Wyatt as a baby two years ago. I am honored that they asked me to document their updated family photos with Connor!

We weren’t able to do Connor’s newborn session until he was close to 2 months old. He was born right at the beginning of the lockdown, when things were unknown and scary. Although I typically photograph babies during their first 3 weeks after birth to get those sleepy curly photos, Connor was the best baby client! I wasn’t certain I’d be able to do those traditional newborn photos, but Connor slept like a champ. He let me get everything Chris and Brittany hoped for! Even the “froggy” position on a chair just like we did with big brother Wyatt two years ago.

Newborn Photos at Ponte Vedra Beach (And the Studio!)

Since this session was a combo session, where we do both posed newborn photos as well as family photos, we also headed to the beach. Chris and Brittany opted to do the family portion outdoors at Ponte Vedra beach, which is one of the best beaches to photograph families at in northeastern Florida. Outdoor sessions are a perfect option for families with concerns about bringing the whole family to the studio due to the pandemic, which I absolutely respect.

I know it can be a bit daunting for parents to bring a toddler to the beach for family photos, because typically kids want to run and play. But you know what? That’s perfect: I want the kids to run and play. I want to photograph little ones running jumping splashing and just being happy kids. I don’t want them to sit still because that’s not what 2 year olds do, right!?
